What to Give for a Cambodian Graduation

Cambodian graduations are photographed more than almost any other family occasion — which quietly changes what makes a good gift.

What to Give for a Cambodian Graduation — handmade everlasting flowers by LEAP

The gift is going to be in the photographs

This is the thing people underestimate. A graduation bouquet is not really for the graduate's living room — it is held in every photo taken that day, across dozens of phones, and those photos last decades. A bouquet that has wilted by the time the family group shot happens is a real loss.

Everlasting flowers hold their shape through a four-hour ceremony in 35-degree heat. That is the practical argument. The sentimental one is better: the flowers in the photograph are the same flowers still on the shelf ten years later.

What to spend

  • $5–7 — a keychain, for classmates and friends. Small, personal, and nobody ends up carrying six bouquets.
  • $12–20 — a bouquet, the standard gift from family and close friends.
  • $22–26 — a personalised frame, for parents and grandparents. This is the one that gets kept.

Personalise it with the name and year

A frame with the graduate's name and graduating year is the single most-given piece we make in June and July. It costs no more than a plain one, and it is the difference between a nice object and a record of the day.

School colours work well here too. Send us the colour and we will match the supporting blooms to it.

Order early — genuinely

Everything is made after you order it, so graduation season is the one time of year we can run out of time rather than stock. A frame takes three to four days to make, a large bouquet up to five, and June is our busiest month. Ordering two weeks ahead means you get the colours you asked for rather than the colours that were achievable.

For a whole class — twenty pieces or more — talk to us a month out.
